Today is the last day of testing for 7th graders. It has been a long and exhausting testing week, but students have handled it very well.
On Friday, 7th grade students will be starting a dramatic reading called Novio Boy, written by Gary Soto. Gary Soto is a Mexican-American writer who celebrates his heritage through his intriguing and often funny novels and plays for young adults. His novel play, Novio Boy is a light-hearted play about the ups and downs of young love in the Mexican American Community. My 7th grade students are very excited about reading this play, and many of them auditioned in class to read specific roles! We are learning about tone, voice inflection, and fluency to become an effective reader. Parents, ask your students about their involvement in the dramatic reading and what character they are playing. Parents, by now you know that on Monday we started our EOG Milestone testing for grades 6th and 8th. Just a reminder that this week you might see a decrease in homework coming home. We want students to take it easy this week and not be overwhelmed. Please try to make sure that your student eats a healthy breakfast every day this week, and goes to bed at a decent time. Students need to be on time to school and present for each day of testing. Testing for 7th grade will begin on Monday, April 16th. |
