Today 6th grade students worked on comprehension questions for the novel, The Watson's Go to Birmingham. Students are really enjoying reading this book! with the audio cd. I love hearing the students laugh and smile while reading!
Students also worked on summarizing as a reading strategy. After reading, students had to write a short summary in their own words, describing the action of the text. A few students shared their summary with the class. Great job today! Today students had to do a little bit of math in reading class! 7th and 8th grade students participated in an activating strategy that allowed them to engage with their weekly vocabulary words and definitions. Students had to match the correct definitions with words and find the magic number. They did a great job! Remember, students have a vocabulary quiz every Friday! Don't forget to study tonight!
